Constructed of silvered feinzink, the obverse consisting of an oval medallion overlaying a pair of skis, bearing a central mountainscape overlaid by a German national eagle clutching the emblem of SA Gruppe Hochland, flanked by a date of FEBR. 1940 and situated above a dedication of DER FHRER DER SA GRUPPE HOCHLAND (THE LEADER OF SA GRUPPE HOCHLAND), circumscribed by an inscription of KRIEGS
