Constructed of silver, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward facing profile of Duke Ernst II, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a raised monogram of Duke Ernst II, situated within a circular laurel leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 33. 48 mm in diameter, weighing 17. 5 grams,
