This is a good example of a rather rare wooden crate that would have contained 8 C Rations. The box is in good condition and retains mostly legible stamping on the side. The cardboard insert is missing on this example. There is some material loss along the edges from what looks like woodworms, and the crate is showing heavy storage and age wear, with cracks in the bottom as shown. The markings on the side read: U. S.
