This is a very nice example of an upmarket "Double Row Border" Civil War Federal officer shoulder board for the rank of 1st Lieutenant, indicated by the single bar at each end. The color inside the border is blue, the color indicating Infantry during the Civil War era and later. It his hand embroidered, made from wool fabric and bullion thread surrounding a stiff cheesecloth core. It measures 4 5 8" x 1 7 8", and is
