Description

the blue of his shirt really is Yves Klein blue--like pure powdered pigment--and the green of his pants really does almost glow

often but not always with one "white" side and one "black"-- here with the two sides pretty much exact mirrors of one another

if this were a different sort of sampler they might feel detracting

and then these two tiny players at lower left

and unsigned as far as I can tell

Aktlen Glass Company Dresden, Modernist Advertising Paperweight with Embedded Wire Mesh Grid mid-century brass object the blue of his shirtJust recently I've been paying some attention to antique and vintage glass advertising paperweights most of them not of much interest to me, but occasionally one comes across one with a really interesting or unusual graphic. Like this one! I believe it is Bauhaus era, made by the Aktlen Industrial Glass Company in Dresden, Germany c. 1920s 30s, with the red lettering printed on transparent film suspended inside the glass, and then a layer of wire mesh
