Called in German a Infanterie Sturmabzeichen in Silber, this genuine badge is constructed of silvered zinc. Over time, the silvering can wear and flake off, showing the oxidized base metal, which is zinc. This example still has almost all of the original wash on the front of the badge, with the expected wear on the reverse which now only displays very little of the silver wash. The design of the badge consists of an
